Hey @Rich Howard, I am trying to compile cruise data where Subplot 1 is live tree data (1/20th-acre) and Subplot 2 is snag data (1/5th-acre). When I set it up in Assisi, the expansion factors seem to be halved although the subplots are separate based on whether a tree is alive or not. How can I set Assisi to treat them separately?

Assisi has a concept of "sub plot groups". Sub plots are considered to be sampling the same items when their Content, Group and Species are the same. In your case, Content="Trees", Group=not set and Species=not set. This means Assisi thinks you are sampling the same population, Trees whether live or dead, on both sub plots. It then divides by 2 to get the plot level amounts.

Content, Group and Species need to be distinct to tell Assisi a subplot is sampling a distinct population: Trees or Snags in your case. Since Content needs to be trees for both your sub plots, set Group="Live" for sub plot 1 and Group="Snag" for sub plot 2. Assisi will then treat them as sampling separate populations.
