Assisi Licensing
Assisi Software products are licensed using a combination of three elements: Product, Access and Platform. Together these provide flexibility for almost any usage scenario — named or unnamed users, roaming or fixed workstations, local or cloud deployments.
Products
The product determines the feature set available to a user. Three products run on Windows PCs and one is an Android field application. Each tier includes all features from the tier below it.
Assisi Cruiser
Android field data collection app for phones and tablets.
$1,000
+ $500 / yr.
maintenance
Price per user.
-
Export to Assisi Cruiser — carry cruise designs, markets, calibrations and prior field data into the field.
-
Import to Assisi — import from Cruiser into Compiler, Inventory or Forest. Errors are nearly eliminated by using Assisi species, grades and survey designs within Cruiser.
-
Configurable Fields — adapts to the selected sample design.
-
SQLite Storage — data emailed from device to office for import.
Android
Assisi Compiler
Compile field survey data into detailed forest inventory reports.
$3,000
+ $1,500 / yr.
maintenance
Price per user.
-
Survey Designs — Variable, Fixed, Percent, Transect, Point and Nested Plots.
-
Double Sampling — Count Plot and Big BAF.
-
Missing Values — Height regressions, model estimates and calibrations.
-
Valuations — markets defined by product, sort and grade.
- Scaling — fixed, variable and market-optimized log lengths.
-
Non-Timber — down woody debris, cover and point samples.
-
Taper Models — ORGANON, Flewelling, Behre, Kozak, Wensel, Weiskittel, Clark and user-defined.
Windows
Assisi Inventory
All Compiler features plus growth modeling to project older survey data to the current year.
$6,000
+ $2,500 / yr.
maintenance
Price per user.
-
Growth Projection — grow older cruise data forward; historical harvests, planting and fertilizing processed automatically.
-
Regions — Northwest, California, Southern US, Lake States, Northeast, Maine/New Brunswick.
-
Stratified Inventories — calibrate models by species and strata; expand to stand polygons.
-
CFI — stand plot and tree locations; permanent plot inventories.
-
Growth Models — ORGANON, ACADIA, Weiskittel, Kershaw, Wensel, Biging, Tech and user-defined.
Windows
Assisi Forest
All Inventory features plus long-term harvest planning and simulation.
$12,000
+ $5,000 / yr. maintenance
Price per user.
-
Planning — by year and stand using prescriptions and rules.
-
Thinning — by year, stand, species and DBH classes.
-
Plan Simulation — simulate stands and actions over any time horizon; summaries by year, stand, species, tree, log and product; yields for Woodstock and other harvest schedulers.
-
Stand Simulation — explore single-stand management in detail.

Access Types
The access type governs how many users may run Assisi and from which machines. Field personnel who need only occasional access are well suited to a Float license; office users who maintain the inventory daily typically use Full or User access.
Full
Single user · Specific desktop
-
Named User — access tied to a specific user and their computer.
-
No Log-In Required — a license file is installed on first run; no need to contact the license server unless a major hardware change is made.
Best for office users running Assisi on their own dedicated local PC.
User
Single user · Any desktop in domain
-
Named User — access tied to a specific user, not a machine.
-
Roaming — run Assisi on any PC it is installed on, including cloud-hosted desktops.
-
Log In / Log Off Required — log off frees the license for use on another PC.
Best for users who work across multiple machines or access Assisi remotely.
Float
Fixed concurrent users · Any desktop in domain
-
Shared Pool — access is shared among users; a fixed number may run Assisi Compiler concurrently.
-
Roaming — users can run Assisi Compiler on any PC it is installed on within a single domain.
-
Log In / Log Off Required — log off returns the seat to the pool for other users.
-
$3,000— Each Float access adds $3,000 to the Assisi Compiler license cost.
Economical when three or more users need occasional access but not all at the same time.
Platforms
The platform determines the database architecture and the operational feature set. Desktop is included at no additional cost. Enterprise is a single company-wide license that upgrades all users simultaneously.
Desktop
Included · No additional cost
-
Single-User Database — one user processes a given database at a time. Multiple users writing to the same database concurrently will overwrite each other's results.
-
Default — default platform for all Assisi installations.
Well suited to a single user performing all office roles.
Enterprise
$25,000 + $10,000 / yr. · Price per company
-
Multi-User Database — stands and plans are locked to individual users so that compiling, growing and simulation run only on a user's locked items.
-
Inventory Operations — track and plan on-the-ground activities and update the inventory upon completion.
-
C# Scripting — script complex Assisi operations from within the application; Assisi internal objects are also available for programming from other .NET programs.
-
C# Add-Ins — access and control Assisi from external .NET programs.
-
Custom Reports — add new reports, modify existing ones, add Excel spreadsheets, and add or modify table views.
A single Enterprise license applies to all products and users within a company, enabling scripting, automation and add-ins across all Assisi users.
Typical Role Combinations
The following combinations reflect how organizations typically structure their Assisi licenses across field and office roles.
Field Surveyor
Product : Cruiser + Compiler
Access: Full or Float
Platform: Desktop
Surveys in the field; compiles and reports results. Float suits teams sharing occasional access.
Inventory Analyst
Product : Inventory
Access: Full or User
Platform: Desktop or Enterprise
Maintains the formal inventory; grows cruise data to the current year.
Planning Analyst
Product : Forest
Access: Full or Float
Platform: Enterprise
Designs and simulates long-term harvest plans; generates volume and cash-flow projections.
Small Organization
Product : Compiler or Inventory
Access: Full
Platform: Desktop
Single user performing all office roles; Desktop platform is sufficient.
Large Organization
Product : Mixed
Access: Float + Full/User
Platform: Enterprise
Field staff on Float; office staff on Full or User; Enterprise enables shared database and automation.
Product, access and platform are selected independently. Any combination is valid; the table above reflects common patterns only.
