FPS Import

In the Pacific Northwest, a number of forest growth models have been developed over the years. All of them have their pros and cons and each has an active group of users. As with alternatives to anything, it would be great if there were easy ways of comparing the results of the different models. The many different growth, taper and volume models that are native to Assisi are easy enough to run without leaving the Assisi program. But for other models, an effective import tool is what’s needed to run the same data in say FPS as well as Assisi.

Even though we sometimes wish it weren’t so, forest science can be a deep and sophisticated process. Assisi recognizes and respects this. However, making use of forest science is often more difficult than it needs to be. Assisi has had two goals for its software since we began 12 years ago:

1. To have user experiences that are productive and fluid and...

2. To make the complexity of forest science more accessible.

Field and Inventory Data Editing in Assisi Manager 2010

I wanted to share a little about the new Field Data and Inventory Editors in Assisi Manager 2010. The Inventory Editor of Assisi Inventory 2006 is very similar, but the new versions will have significant advantages.

Double Sampling in Maintenance Release 2

Maintenance Release 2 of Assisi Inventory 2006 enhances support for double sampling in significant ways. You can now create sample designs that have Big BAF, Count Plot or both types of double sampling within a single cruise design. Species can be assigned to each type of double sample or to other non double sampled sub plots in your design. Measure trees are expanded using the count plot stats making count plot corrected tree lists available for other uses like growth and filtering.
